Category Manager - Innovation Future Networks & OHL - Perth - £55,600

Our client, a leader in the transport, logistics and procurement sector, is recruiting a Category Manager to join their expanding team.


Responsibilities of the successful Category Manager will include:

  • Develop and trial innovative technologies, practices and commercial arrangements
  • Responsible for sourcing the supply of goods, works and services in accordance with all internal policies and procedures and external legislation, including EU Procurement Legislation
  • Support the Category in the development of standard and complex contracting and sourcing strategies to ensure innovation on the SSE Networks Power Distribution network
  • Conduct strategic sourcing events, planning and managing all elements of the sourcing process from end to end, engaging stakeholders and suppliers throughout the process
  • Drafting and reviewing special contractual terms, conducting tender negotiations to ensure all costs, exclusions and deviations are known and the appropriate risk allocation has been made in accordance with the Contracting Strategy
  • Complete commercial analysis of tender submissions and making appropriate award recommendations


The successful Category Manager must possess:

  • Broad knowledge of contracts with the ability to draft special terms, including IPR, NPD, risk and dispute procedures, with knowledge of relevant statutory and legal provisions
  • Experience in negotiating costs and terms conditions
  • Enthusiasm with excellent influencing and stakeholder management skills
  • Be commercially astute
  • Be comfortable working to deadlines, being able to change priorities whilst managing own time effectively
  • Have an appreciation for the intricacies of working with SME’s and Universities, dealing with sole suppliers of a product or service
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills


The successful Category Manager can expect:

  • Up to £55,600 per annum
  • 10% bonus based on personal, team and company performance
  • Working hours: M-T 8.30am-5.00pm / F 8.30am-4.30pm
  • 34 days holiday (inc. public holidays)
